The variety of places to visit is almost endless. HMS Victory would, for most, be the focus of a guided tour visit to Portsmouth.  For modern history the D-Day museum overlooking the Solent is not to be missed.

A short journey along the beautiful Meon valley will bring you to Jane Austen’s Chawton home. It was there that she revised and wrote some of her more famous books. From Chawton you would move on to Winchester and its famous Norman Cathedral where early kings of England were married and gentle Jane Austen is buried, not many yards away from the grave of the brutal Norman King, William II. 

Just a ferry trip away from Southampton is the Isle of Wight, a favourite with Queen Victoria. It was also on this island that King Charles I was imprisoned at the end of England’s civil war.
